Halloween bits & pieces.

Its Halloween, just my favorite holiday! I love the pumpkin carving or painting, the yummy festive treats, getting to dress up and be something you are not, the smell of fall, and candy of course. Halloween is such a great holiday. However, it isn't the same at college as it is at home. Every year I would have a Halloween party we would all dress up in really crazy costumes, bob for apples, eat candy, play ghost in the grave yard, and watching scary movies. Here at college is it just not the same.

But I made a point to carve pumpkins and also my mom sent me some delicious little treats that we would make every year at Halloween. Also my little brother has taken over having the Halloween parties! I can't wait to start my own holiday tradition for every holiday! Anyways just a few pieces of my Halloween.

Orange Leaf

Scarf: Old Navy, Jeans: Silver, Shirt: Target, Jacket: A&F, Boots: Old Navy.
I just had to do one of the photos with a leaf in front of my face. I mean fall only comes once a year and I needed to take advantage of it right? Right. Especially since November is approaching quickly and soon fall will be over as we know it.

This morning I had trouble figuring out what I was going to wear. So I found one item in my closet that I wanted to wear and built my outfit from that. Which is pretty much my strategy every day. The item I choose was this scarf, I have been wanting to wear it but just haven't gotten around to it. But today I did. Have a great Monday.

Weekend tidbits

This weekend has been long. I have been studying like crazy for my up coming midterms this week. I did get to take a little break to watch some football and make myself pancakes on Saturday morning which was really nice. Also I am excited to flip open the new Marie Claire but that will have to wait until after all my test. It was rainy all weekend so I spend most of my time inside drinking hot cocoa and like I said studying. Also, I haven't carved pumpkins yet! But that is happening tomorrow. I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Spruced up

So I thought it was about time I spruce up my blog! And this girl needed some change. I have been making tweaks throughout the week but last night I drove in and changed it all up. I am so very proud to say I designed everything myself. Not that there is any super designy aspects to it but when I first started blogging I thought I would never learn any HTML or CSS but I have learned a little and just enough to get me through. So do you like the new aspects of my blog? What do you think? Everyone have a wonderful Friday.

A glimpse of sun

I love these photos because you can tell we had a few glimpses of sun yesterday! And what is better then sun in Seattle. Nothing. I always say "if its not raining, then the weather is nice." However, I do love me some sunshine once in a while too. I also really enjoy wearing floral patterns when it is cooler out, it makes me happy and think of spring or summer.
Floral blouse: Target. Scarf: old. Shirt: Old Navy. Jeans: Silver. Moccasins: Bearpaw

Lately I have been contemplating my life and what exactly I am supposed to be doing. Am I supposed to be here at the University of Washington? Or what do I really want to be doing? I have been trying to figure this out and I am sure I will. Taking a step back from life and trying to decided what I really want is a good thing. It is also a little scary because maybe everything will change. Maybe that is exactly what I need. Anyways, have a wonderful Wednesday. Is anyone else glad this week is half over? I am already ready for the weekend!

FAQ page, help!

So I want to liven up my FAQ page with actual questions that my readers are wondering. So here is your chance to ask me a question that you have been wanting an answer too. Feel free to ask me anything. I will choose the questions I think should go on my FAQ page and answer them there. If there are questions that don't make it on the page, I will just have to do another blog post. So win win!

Monday

Sweater: American Eagle. Boots: Steve Madden. Jeans: Old Navy.
Mondays are always the longest days. Aside from them being Monday's which already make it bad, I have my longest day of classes today! By the end I am struggling to get back to my room, in my pjs, and usually in bed to do my homework! I hope today it a good day though. Actually I hope everyday is a good day, a girl can dream.

This weekend was good. My friends and I got pumpkins at a pumpkin patch to carve. It was my friends birthday so we celebrated that. And yesterday I saw the new movie Pitch Perfect. It is super cute and funny. I recommend it! Also Clark had flowers delivered to me over the weekend, what a sweet guy. Aren't they beautiful!

Have a great Monday.

Day to day

I thought I would take some time to give you a peek inside my day to day life. And wow talk about a dirty computer screen, I will be cleaning that as soon as I am finished here! The first quarter of college is treating me pretty well. I am loving my Swedish class! I am taking basic first year Swedish and I love it. My teacher is awesome and I just feel like I am really understanding the language. I would recommend that everyone take a foreign language in college, you will learn so much more than you did in high school. And at least for me it makes way more sense.
My photography classes are super interesting and I am learning a lot but I am not sure it is what I want to major in anymore. Before this quarter started I was sure I wanted to major in Photomedia. But now I am thinking I want to do more commercial photography which is definitely not what the program here at the UW focuses on. I also really like teaching the freshman seminar class which I am instructing this quarter so I am looking into education and history more as a possible double major so I could be a history teacher. See my mind is all over the place. Problems of the college student.
As you can see I decorated my room dorm for Halloween. I actually just printed out coloring pages and colored them with crayons. It feels good to be a kid again for a minute. And I am definitely all about being festive so this was an easy way to get into the holiday spirit. My friends and I are also going to crave pumpkins soon which will be fun! Another thing that brightens my little dorm room is this orchid my roommate bought for our table. It is so pretty huh? And it definitely a little piece of nature right here in my room.
I have also been enjoying Skyping Clark recently. See, there is no wifi in the buildings where they live so in order for us to Skype he had to get a hot spot for his cell phone. Well he got one at the beginning of October. I think that we have Skyped almost everyday since then. Who ever invented Skype was a genius. But I am sure all you other girls in long distance relationships don't need to be told that! Talking to him is something that I look forward to everyday.

What is something you enjoying doing everyday during your basic day to day life?

Gingersnaps

I might be a little biased but I am pretty sure that gingersnap cookies are the perfect fall cookie! It might be because when I was younger this is always the time of the year when we would make them or just the taste and smell of them is completely reminds me of fall! And this is of course while I look photos of them around fall things.
You'll need
1 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 1/4 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
Mix brown sugar, shortening, molasses and egg. Then mix in dry ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Heat oven for 375 degrees F. Shape dough into teaspoon size balls. Toss into bowl of granulated sugar until the ball is all covered with sugar. Place about 3 inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake until set 10-12 min. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.

They are so yummy! And are soft days after you bake them which in my opinion makes for a wonderful cookie! Enjoy.

All around

The leaves have turned and it is orange, red, and yellow all around! This lovely tree I actually get to see everyday outside my window. And I knew I just had to take photos by it! I mean can you blame me, look at those colors. Unfortunately, the rain has started here in Seattle and that means it is time to put up the umbrellas and hoods and ignore the beautiful leaves of fall. I am hoping for a day without rain soon!
Jeans: Target. Boots: Old Navy. Sweater: Old Navy.

Like my hair? All natural wavy! I actually like it like this, sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. It really depends on the day I guess. I really need a 'go-to' remedy that will make my hair look like this all the time but I am still working out the kinks.

I hope everyone enjoys their Tuesday! It is definitely better then Monday right? Have a good day!
