Travel plans

Dress Macy's (old), Shirt F21, Necklace vintage

As of right now Clark's Mom and I are busy making travel plans to head down to South Carolina in August to watch Clark graduate Army basic training. August 14th to be exact. Right now we are in the process of pricing flights and hotels. I am getting excited and anxious. I have never been to the south and I am excited to experience new surroundings and of course see my boyfriend after 10
weeks.

Here it is threatening to rain. Hopefully it stays away. Where is the sun and hot weather? Is it not summer.

Anyways, who has been to the south or lives there. What should I be expecting?

DIY American Flag Tank

I have been seeing everyone lately in awesome American Flag t-shirts or tank tops and I wanted one. Yesterday I went shopping and was looking for one but no luck. And I thought, I can make one myself.  I have noticed other wonderful bloggers doing DIY American Flag shirt, so I thought why not try it.

How I made mine
-I used a regular white t-shirt and cut it into my desired tank top.
-I used painters tape to mark where the lines would go and where the stars would be
-I cut out star shapes
-I painted the red stripes first, I didn't fill them in all the way either. It gives it a rough look.
-Then I taped the starts down to my desire and painted navy blue around them (be careful they don't move)
-Then I let dry
-And I took of the tape. Poof. American Flag tank top.

Cautions
-I used regular acrylic paint so I will have to be extra careful washing it. I didn't have fabric paint laying around or I would have used that.

I absolutely love how it turned out. I don't think it could have gone any better. I am now looking into other patterns I can paint onto tank tops or t-shirts. I also want to do America Flag shorts. I am totally inspired by something I did myself. So if you have a regular white shirt laying around and what to do something cute with it. Try this.

Got any great DIY projects, I would love to check them out.

Sara from Oh Honey, Don't Worry emailed me yesterday. She is a fairly new blogger and I was so happy she got in contact with me. Don't be afraid to send me an email if you want to talk, chat, or just get to know me better. Check out Sara's blog here

Horse photography

One of the many things I have been doing so far this summer is mentoring a girl in photography. (I don't know if I should call it mentoring because we are just talking, hanging out, and taking photos.)Check here for my full bucket list for this summer.  Anyways she is 14 and lives in my hometown, which is where I am for the summer. Her dad was my English teacher in high school and got ahold of me about taking photos with her this summer and teaching her the knowledge (tiny amount) I know about photography. I met with her a couple of days ago and I showed her some work I have done, the camera I use, and a few techniques.

I thought we should start off with something fairly simple and easy to shoot and I have always wanted to take photos of horses so that is what we started with. Here are a few of my favorite photographs that I took from our horse shoot.

Do you have any great photographs of animals? I love silly/interesting animal photos.

p.s. It is Friday (duh) so I hope everyone has a fun filled weekend planned.

Leather and Lace

Jacket thrifted, Dress Macy's, Shoes Converse

I bought this leather jacket at a thrift shop in Seattle in October because I wanted to be a biker chick for Halloween. It was around $15. Well the jacket ended up being perfect for my costume. After the Halloween festivities were over, I realized that I loved the jacket for everyday life as well and was so lucky to have found a good leather jacket for cheap. It is a little big on me, but I like it that way.

What a wonderful week I have had already and it is just Tuesday! Yesterday I received my first letter from Clark who is in basic training in South Carolina. I also got my first paycheck of the summer! I guess what I am trying to say is I had a wonderful Monday.

How is your week going? Anything exciting happening?

Party dress, no party

I love this dress. I got it a little over a year ago and I wore it to a dance. I have been looking for a reason to wear it again but there isn't one. No party for this girl.

Dress Forever 21, Scarf Old Navy, Shoes Old Navy

I just finished up my first week lifeguarding and it is taking awhile for all of the guards to get used to the new manager he does this differently and we aren't sure if we like it. But who likes change? Other then that it is going good. I have also been swimming laps before work since I don't really have time to work out any other time. I have realized that lifeguards work weird/awful hours. From 1230pm-5pm then 6pm - 915pm. Or 630am-8am then 1230pm-5pm. It takes some getting used to but still it is fun.

Don't forget to wish your Dad's Happy Fathers Day. Mine is out of town, but I called him this morning! One more thing, I am dying to see the new Rock of Ages movie. Is that weird?

Have a wonderful Sunday
